Our Client, A Leading contract manufacture of superior medical devices is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager for their St. Charles location.

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for working with vendors and suppliers to obtain quality materials on time and at the best possible pricing and will also work in collaboration with internal customers including sales/customer services, engineering, production, quality and accounting.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years recent experience in a Purchasing/Materials Supervisory role preferably out of the textile or medical device industry.

Salary Range 85,000 - 95,000 plus bonus potential

Purchasing Manager Job Description
  • Lead, supervise, mentor and train purchasing staff. 
  • Manage and control the cost-effective purchase of materials for multiple business units. 
  • Ensure parts and materials are purchased at the most competitive price and delivered on time to meet production schedules. 
  • Foster close working relationships with other departments (i.e. Sales/Customer Service, Engineering, Production, Quality, Data Integrity and Accounting.) 
  • Continually improve purchasing methods and process flows to drive down external spend while ensuring on time delivery and quality. 
  • Analyze trends, costs and markets to make appropriate recommendations. 
  • Continuously review the Purchasing function and its methodology and identify and implement improvements. 
  • Participate in various initiatives and projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the purchasing department and purchasing and materials flow. 
  • Manage organization wide inventory.
  • Run annual inventory for each business unit. 
  • Maintaining supplier database, purchasing records, and related documentation.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • MUST have a Minimum 5 years recent experience in a Purchasing/Materials Supervisory role managing a team.
  • High competency level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum). 
  • Experience working in ERP/MRP systems is essential with a specific focus on purchasing activities, SAGE experience a plus. 
  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience in coaching and developing staff. 
  • “Hands on” approach to all tasks with a strong ability to solve problems and get to the root cause. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects with a high degree of effectiveness. 
  • Highly organized with excellent communication, negotiating, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to take a proactive approach to overcome challenges and achieve results. 
  • Must be versatile, tenacious, and people-oriented and highly adaptable. 
  • Passionate about getting the job done right the first time. 
  • Previous ISO 9001 & 13485 experience highly preferred.
