Die Cutter Operator – 2nd Shift - Temp to Hire Position
Location: Woodridge, IL
Pay: $26/hr + $1/hr shift premium (higher pay negotiable for strong experience)
Shift: 2nd Shift (10-hour shifts)
Schedule: Mandatory Saturdays during busy periods

About the Company
Our client, a niche, high-quality manufacturer specializing in premium card production is seeking an experienced Die Cutter Operator to join their Bindery team. This facility does NOT run corrugated — candidates must have experience with 12pt–28pt board stock.

Position Overview
The Die Cutter Operator is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operating flatbed die cutting equipment to produce high-quality product according to customer specifications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience with steel rule dies.

Key Equipment
  • Bobst Novacut 106
  • Bobst SP130ER
  • Steel rule die
  • 40” sheets (runs twenty-six 40” sheets)
  • Pre-make ready table
  • Standard bindery tools (rulers, calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Pressmen with die cutting knowledge may also be a fit.

Essential Job Functions
  • Set up, operate, and maintain die cutting equipment.
  • Read job tickets and follow setup specifications accurately.
  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform make-readies and routine maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and quality issues.
  • Maintain production records and documentation.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Train other workers on machine setup and operation.
  • Assist team members across departments to maximize efficiency.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • Preferred: Experience with Bobst ER 130 or Bobst Novacut 106.
  • Minimum 2 years running board stock and paper on flatbed die cutters.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, SOPs, and maintenance instructions.
  • Basic computer/data entry skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude (must pass mechanical test or show proven experience).
  • Ability to use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and inspection tools.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Nicking process
    • Spotting sheets
    • Stripping boards
    • Rubber/cork selection
    • Reknifing tools (benders, bridgers, miters, cutters)
    • Tonnage adjustments
    • Underlaying and spotting
    • Counter plates (1mm), register pins, matrix
    • Repairing dies and modifying creasing rules
    • Blind make-readies
  • Must pass color vision and color hue tests.
  • Must maintain reliable attendance.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including mandatory Saturdays during peak periods.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • 10-hour shifts
  • 30-minute lunch
  • Two 10-minute breaks
  • Fast-paced, high-precision production environment
