Our client, a global manufacturing company that specializes in providing high-quality undercarriage parts for a wide range of industries, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Undercarriage Design Engineer Consultant with expertise in track systems to join their dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing undercarriage components, specifically focusing on track systems for heavy machinery used in construction, mining, forestry, among other applications.
This position will require lots of travel to Canada & China, along with the opportunity to work remotely when not traveling.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design & Development:
- Develop innovative designs for undercarriage track systems that enhance performance, durability, and reliability.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, CATIA) to create detailed design specifications and models of undercarriage components.
Analysis & Testing:
- Perform structural analysis and simulations (using tools like FEA) to ensure designs meet performance standards.
- Collaborate with the testing team to evaluate prototypes through rigorous testing procedures including wear tests, load tests, and fatigue assessments.
Materials Selection:
- Research and recommend appropriate materials based on application requirements such as strength-to-weight ratio, wear resistance, corrosion resistance etc.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are feasible for production.
- Liaise with suppliers to source materials/components necessary for prototypes or final products.
Project Management:
- Lead design projects from concept through production while meeting timelines and budget constraints.
- Prepare technical documentation including design reports, specifications sheets, and user manuals.
Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct root cause analysis on product failures related to tracks; implement corrective actions to improve future designs.
- Stay abreast of industry trends related to undercarriage technology; integrate advancements into new projects.
