Job Description

Our client, a family-owned, stable and growing manufacturer of motor cooling solutions, is looking for a Maintenance & Equipment Manager for their facilities located in the Elk Grove Village and Melrose Park areas.
                                                                          
  • Hours 6:00 am- 2:30pm typical schedule with OT expected 
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a maintenance leadership role within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Salary range: $85,000 - $100,000/yr (Depending on Experience)


The Manufacturing Maintenance Equipment Manager will oversee the maintenance and management of equipment and facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a comprehensive understanding of industrial maintenance, including mechanical and electrical systems. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure optimal equipment performance, safety compliance, and efficient operations within our manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise the maintenance team, ensuring effective scheduling and execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Establish, implement and maintain procedures for Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Manage both preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders, inventory, and equipment performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections of HVAC systems, ensuring they meet operational standards.
  • Collaborate with facilities management to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Provide leadership in troubleshooting mechanical issues, utilizing schematics for effective problem-solving.
  • Implement maintenance management strategies to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Lead projects related to equipment upgrades or installations, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations concerning high voltage and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Maintain documentation related to maintenance activities, including reports on equipment performance and repairs.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of industrial equipment, machinery, and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of PM and TPM methodologies.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and develop efficient maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to understand plant layouts and manufacturing equipment processes.
  • Ability to read tape measures and convert fractions to decimal measurements.
  • Ability to read schematic drawings.
  • Ability to read and use measuring equipment, including micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to operate various tools and equipment.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, other departments, and the public; ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations for manufacturing environments.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Experience required:
  • At least five years of proven experience in a maintenance leadership role within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong background in mechanical knowledge, electrical experience, and industrial maintenance practices.
  • Experience and familiarity with HVAC systems and facilities management principles is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office/ Outlook/Word/Excel.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies with experience in executing projects from conception through completion.
  • Experience with electrical work and repairs, welding, fabricating, hydraulic, pneumatic and fluid processes. Proven experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives including Preventive and Predictive maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge of using tools such as an ohmmeter for electrical testing is valuable.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 2-4 years or secondary degree/greater education or other formal training within a manufacturing/production maintenance environment required.
