Job Description

Ink Technician - Second Shift
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Pay Rate: Up to $26.00 per hour (including shift differential) based on relevant experience
Location: Waupun, Wisconsin

We’re looking for a skilled Ink Technician to support our clients team during second shift. In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparing inks, coatings, adhesives, and other materials to ensure optimal press performance. This position plays a key role in maintaining color consistency, managing material inventory, and ensuring smooth press operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ink Preparation & Production Support: Prepare inks, coatings, adhesives, primers, and additives for each stage of the press production process.
  • Color Matching: Maximize press performance by ensuring consistent target color matching during production runs.
  • Material Management: Assist with Anilox selection and make necessary color adjustments during the approval process.
  • Ink Drawdowns: Prepare and review ink drawdowns to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Viscosity & pH Control: Maintain proper ink viscosities and pH levels to meet production requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of both new and “work-off” inks, ensuring materials are properly stocked.
  • Proper Disposal: Safely dispose of used inks, adhesives, and other materials according to company guidelines.
  • Logistics: Manage the movement of inks and materials to/from storage, staging areas, and presses as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of ink formulations and other related material specifications.
  • Product Research: Assist in the research and development of new products and explore innovative uses for existing materials.
  • Workplace Organization: Keep the Ink Department clean and organized to ensure an efficient and safe working environment.
  • Food Safety & Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with food safety and quality assurance procedures, escalating any concerns to management.

Job Requirements


Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, with a high level of personal accountability and accuracy in your work.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Dependability: Demonstrated reliability and initiative in completing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Communication: Professional proficiency in both verbal and written English; able to follow and interpret instructions accurately.
  • Basic Math & Computer Skills: Strong basic math skills and basic computer proficiency with the ability to learn new software.
  • Color Perception: Excellent color perception with the ability to identify subtle differences in shades (with or without corrective lenses).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand or sit for long periods, and comfortably stoop, kneel, or climb ladders as needed during work activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Color Matching Experience: Experience in color matching, particularly with water-based inks or adhesives.
  • Flexographic & Flexible Packaging Printing: Prior experience in flexographic printing or flexible packaging printing.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical skills and an understanding of printing press operations.
