Location: Burr Ridge, IL
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday 8am-4:30pm Onsite
Salary: $90,000–$105,000/year (Based on Experience)

Our client, a leading manufacturer of high-quality commercial partitions and building products, is seeking an experienced Drafting & Order Engineering Manager-Bilingual Spanish/English to lead their Drafting and Order Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys developing teams, improving processes, and collaborating across multiple departments.

Please note: this position requires you to work onsite, Monday-Friday.

In this role, you will oversee both an onsite & a hybrid team responsible for creating accurate fabrication drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), approval drawings, and engineering documentation that support production and customer orders. You'll serve as a key liaison between Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and the Design Studio CPQ team to ensure projects move efficiently from order entry through manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a hybrid team of onsite and remote drafting and order engineering professionals. 
  • Manage departmental workload, scheduling, staffing priorities, and performance evaluations. 
  • Establish and monitor KPIs focused on accuracy, productivity, turnaround time, and customer satisfaction. 
  • Oversee the preparation and review of: 
    • Concept drawings 
    • Fabrication drawings 
    • Approval submittals 
    • As-built drawings 
    • Bills of Material (BOMs) 
  • Review customer drawings, architectural plans, and specifications for manufacturability, accuracy, and ADA compliance. 
  • Ensure engineering documentation meets company quality standards and manufacturing requirements. 
  • Partner closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering, Customer Service, and Production to support customer orders and resolve technical issues. 
  • Collaborate with the Design Studio CPQ team to improve configurator functionality, workflow automation, and product standardization. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve drafting processes, engineering workflows, and department efficiency. 
  • Support ERP, CAD automation, and digital workflow initiatives. 
  • Monitor drafting standards, engineering documentation, and design templates. 
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives related to engineering and production.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of drafting or design experience in a manufacturing or custom fabrication environment. 
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience. 
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Mechanical. 
  • Experience creating Bills of Material (BOMs) and manufacturing documentation. 
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems. 
  • Knowledge of CPQ, configurator, or design automation platforms. 
  • Experience with 3D CAD software such as Inventor or SolidWorks. 
  • Previous experience leading hybrid or remote technical teams.
