Do you have experience negotiating rates and finding transportation solutions for 3PL logistics customers? Our client, a national 3PL logistics provider of domestic transportation solutions for industries including Automotive, Recreational Vehicles, Motorcycles, Electronics, Aerospace and Food products is hiring a Carrier Procurement Manager to work in their facility located in Des Plaines, IL, near O`Hare airport. The qualified candidate will bring a strong, existing network of domestic carriers to their new role and will be skilled at cold calling, researching and onboarding new carriers to meet their clients` needs and expand lane profitability. This is a new division of an established transportation company. The Carrier Procurement Manager will work collaboratively with the Ocean Transport and Air Transport divisions to expand OTR, LTL, FTL and Intermodal services to become their sole transportation provider. The should have the ability to pick up the phone, cold call to carriers to learn about the scope of their capabilities and determine if that carrier will be able to provide effective solutions to moving 3PL customer freight throughout the US. They will use a newly implemented Transportation Industry software to document Carrier capabilities, Routes, Costs, Availability, etc. They need to have a self-directed, proactive and entrepreneurial mindset for success in this role. They must have the following: `` Strong knowledge of current transportation rates `` An EXTENSIVE network of existing Carriers `` An ASSERTIVE personality and proven ability to pick up the phone and cold call vendors `` Experience with the process required to vet new Carriers `` An Analytical mindset to review rates, destinations, capabilities and find solutions to decrease customer freight costs and increase lane profitability `` Ability to network and work collaboratively with other transportation divisions within the organization to solve 3PL customers` needs and increase profitability This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced self-starter who knows their way around 3PL carrier procurement to join a small team (currently seven employees) in a rapidly expanding division.
